The ethical bachelor

She calls around and he says, “I really need to concentrate on my surfing just now. You were overseas on business, what was I supposed to do?” Have single men no ethics these days? Enter the ethical bachelor.

An ethical bachelor is an unmarried man who goes about his life being single with honesty and integrity. He’s not an ‘eligible bachelor’ because that’s someone who’s not married but wants to get married. Single women should not assume every single man is eligible.

An ethical bachelor wants to live a great life as a single person, but be stylish about it at the same time. Women have to let men be bachelors. Then, if they want to be with a particular woman, it’ll be because they want to be with her, not because they’re not allowed to be with anyone else. It’s got to be the right fit.

Too many women try and force the issue. Think about it like a jar with a screw-top lid - if you try and screw it on and the thread is crossed, you can push it harder and ruin it, or you can back it off and try again.

A woman will know when the ‘ethical’ bachelor wants to be an ‘eligible’ bachelor. The signs will be there. Until then, be respectful of his needs while you go about being you - being the best sort of you you can be. That’s all he asks, and the rewards could be bountiful.
