Pettiness or pique?

This little gem was written by the two individuals who are responsible for the content in the Courier-Mail’s CONFIDENTIAL page on  Tuesday.

It has the cute caption, ‘Ignorance is bliss on Sailor’s part’.

Sailor, who ended his career with a season with St George this year, will appear on the weekly magazine show, NRL on FOX as a regular panellist in 2010. Foxtel released a statement yesterday that gushed of the signing and re-capped Sailor’s career. No mention of his 2006 positive cocaine test and sacking by the ARU. Surprising.”

What a petty and vindictive piece of journalism. Wendell Sailor has done his time and, I might add, like a gentleman, and copped it on the chin. Love him or hate him, the man has style. The penalty was harsh in anyone’s language, banned from playing for two years.  But did Sailor become bitter and disallusioned? No. He knuckled down and kept training for his re-return to Rugby League with not a bad word for the RU administrators who sought to make an example of him.

Wendell Sailor, during his comeback to League, has been a wonderful ambassador for the game with the kids and younger players, and to put shit on a bloke like that after he served his time is a disgraceful piece of journalism.
